DAY 1: Exploration in Tarangire National Park
Begin your safari with a drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, covering a distance of 120 kilometers in about 2 hours. This park spans 2,600 square kilometers and is renowned for its large herds of elephants, iconic baobab trees, and diverse bird species. The Tarangire River, swamps, and scenic landscapes provide the backdrop for sightings of zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, impalas, hartebeests, buffaloes, baboons, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants, and warthogs. Enjoy thrilling game drives through this vibrant ecosystem, capturing the essence of Africa’s wildlife.
DAY 2: Journey to Serengeti National Park
On the second day, drive from Karatu to the iconic Serengeti National Park. Covering 14,763 square kilometers, the Serengeti is famous for the annual Great Migration, where thousands of wildebeests and zebras traverse its vast grassland savannas. With elevations ranging from 920 to 1,850 meters, the park offers diverse habitats, including kopjes and riverine forests. Major attractions include the Grumeti and Mara Rivers, known for dramatic wildebeest crossings. Common animals you will encounter include wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, baboons, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants, hippos, jackals, elands, dik-diks, gazelles, impalas, hartebeests, servals, and mongooses. DAY 3: From Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Spend the morning on a game drive in the Serengeti, soaking in the last moments of this magnificent park. After lunch, embark on a scenic drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for an overnight stay. This route offers opportunities to spot additional wildlife and take in the changing landscapes as you transition from the plains of the Serengeti to the highlands of Ngorongoro.
DAY 4: Half Day in Ngorongoro Crater
Start your day early with a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site formed about 2.5 million years ago when a large volcano collapsed. The resulting caldera is the world’s largest unbroken and unflooded volcanic crater, teeming with wildlife. Common animals include zebras, buffaloes, baboons, warthogs, lions, wildebeests, gazelles, hyenas, elephants, hippos, jackals, and the rare black rhino. Enjoy a half-day exploring this unique ecosystem, taking in the breathtaking views and abundant wildlife before concluding your safari.
