DAY 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Depart from Arusha for a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, covering 120 kilometers in approximately 2 hours.

Park Overview: Spanning 2,600 square kilometers, Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, Tarangire River, swamps, and diverse bird species.

Wildlife: Encounter a variety of wildlife including zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, impalas, hartebeests, buffaloes, baboons, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants, and warthogs amidst Tarangire’s picturesque landscapes.

DAY 2: Karatu to Serengeti National Park

Embark on a scenic drive from Karatu to Serengeti National Park, traversing diverse routes.

Park Overview: Spanning 5,700 square miles (14,763 km²), Serengeti boasts elevations ranging from 920m to 1,850m. Its main attractions include the annual wildebeest migration, expansive grassland savannah plains, pristine wilderness, rocky outcrops (kopjes), and a variety of predators like leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas.

Wildlife: Encounter a rich array of wildlife including wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, baboons, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants, hippos, jackals, elands, dik diks, gazelles, impalas, hartebeests, servals, and mongooses. Witness the spectacle of the Grumeti River and Mara River crossings during the wildebeest migration, especially notable in February when up to 8,000 wildebeests are born daily.

DAY 3: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti

DAY 4: Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti

DAY 5: Full Day Along Mara River

DAY 6: Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti

Embark on a scenic drive from Northern Serengeti to the central region, enjoying a game drive along the way.

Activity: Engage in game viewing opportunities en route, encountering various species that populate both the northern and central regions of Serengeti.

DAY 7: Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Begin your day with an early morning drive from Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater for an exciting game drive within the crater.

Route: Journey from the expansive plains of Central Serengeti to the iconic Ngorongoro Crater, enjoying scenic vistas along the way.

Ngorongoro Crater: Formed approximately 2.5 million years ago from a collapsed volcano, this UNESCO World Heritage site boasts a vast, unbroken caldera teeming with diverse wildlife.

Wildlife Viewing: Encounter a variety of animals within the crater, including zebra, buffalo, baboons, warthog, lion, wildebeest, gazelles, hyena, elephant, hippo, jackal, and black rhino.

DAY 8: Visit Hadzabe Tribe and Datoga Tribe

Day 8 begins with an early morning visit to the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The Hadzabe bushmen reside around Lake Eyasi, south of the Ngorongoro Highlands. This region is also home to the Datoga tribe and Mbulu tribe. A cultural visit with the Hadzabe and Datoga provides insight into their traditional lifestyles. 

The Hadzabe, one of Africa’s oldest tribes, have sustained a hunter-gatherer existence without turning to farming. The Datoga are adept farmers and artisans who raise goats, sheep, donkeys, and chickens, with cattle being central to their culture for their meat, fat, blood, milk, hide, horns, tendons, and dung, each serving practical or ritual purposes. After these enriching experiences, the journey concludes with a drive back to Arusha.
